If you are currently in the process of replacing your roof, you should replace your gutters as well. Here are the top three most popular types of gutters that you can have installed on your home.

Seamless Gutter Systems

Seamless gutter systems are one of the most popular gutter systems installed on homes today. As the name suggests, these types of gutters do not have any seams along them that you have to worry about bursting open, leaking and needed repaired.

Seamless gutters are created by rolling out the gutter from a large coil. The gutter is cut down to size using a specialized machine. This machine allows your contractor to cut the gutter to the exact specifications of your house.

Seamless gutters are joined together at the corners using special troughs that connect on both the inside and outside of the gutters to make the whole experience truly seamless.

Seamless gutters can be made from aluminum, copper or steal. They can be painted or coated with just about any color to match your home.  Of the three types of material, aluminum is the most popular because it's relatively inexpensive and doesn't get rusty.

Copper Gutters

Copper is another popular type of gutter system. Some copper gutters have joints, but others are seamless.

Copper gutters are considered more of a special custom gutter because they tend to be more expensive. However, the cost is set off by the long life span of copper. Copper does not rust nor does the material easily get damaged, make it extremely sturdy. Additionally, copper ages over time to a verdigris tone and never needs to be refinished.

If you want to put new gutters up only once in your lifetime, then copper gutters are the way to go.

Wood Gutters

Very few homes have wood gutters on them anymore. Wood gutters have fallen out of style because the material is very heavy and requires a lot of maintenance. Additionally, wood gutters tend to be pretty expensive.

However, wood rain gutters do have a certain aesthetic appeal that is hard to deny. They are created for individuals who love architectural details, as they are not the most functional or easy to take care of option on the market today.

If you want the most innovative and functional gutter on the market today, a seamless gutter system is the way to go. However, if you more concerned about the visual appeal of your rain gutter system, you may want to look into copper or wood gutters.
